We had a group of Parker people from east coast to west coast again this year for gathering at the old farmhouse and wild pheasant hunting. A great time as usual, great people. Wayne S , Wayne D, Doc Van and son John, Doc Dow and grandson Patrick , Pete K, Jeff K, Josh L, Charlie, me, and of course Randy and Sue.
Lots of nice guns, several DHE's, a bunch of V's including a dynamite light 1 frame 12 sold to the owner by PGCA member Ed Good, a couple G hammer guns in 12 and 16, a 10ga C with 26" original light upland barrels, a 16ga A hammer, a 12ga AH, a CSMC Fox FE, a pristine Phila Fox CE in upwards of 95% condition, my old PHE 16ga.
Fair number of birds, everyone got shots, some limited out, others not, but the key was the enjoyment of hunting and seeing wild birds. The drought was evident and the cover and numbers were down. We walked through about 2000 acres.
We had an 18 year old with us to introduce to Parkers and next year Randy's granddaughter at 13 will be able to walk with us. She got her deer, but now she needs to get a pheasant with a Parker.
Great food including a dinner at Carla's who just returned from Springsteen's Wrecking Ball concert in St Paul.
So we have other great hunts planned. Meeting in northern MN for ruffed grouse, Montana again, maybe follow the leads and invites to Idaho, then out to western Kansas, Nebraska, maybe Arizona. Great, bright, thoughtful guys and great fellowship. Called John D who often comes, John you need to stop that work.
