Default LC Smith

Help. Need a little advice. Is there anyone out there familiar with the inner workings of a L C Smith? I have a L C Smith featherweight 12 gauge 1919. I took it out for a grouse hunt the other afternoon and when I fired it, both barrels fired at once. This is the second time this has happened in about 10 years. Could this be a problem with dirty mechanism or maybe something needs a little attention. I plan to look at it myself, has anyone else had this problem or can tell me if this problem could be in the lock or triggers?

If it is a double trigger gun, there is nothing overly different as to the basic operation as compared to any other side lock gun.
LC Smith locks are pretty simple in design and workings.

Could be things just need a good cleaning. Clearances that are close to start with could be made close by dirt buildup. Or it could be a worn sear tip.

I would not get too excited if it is only the second time it has happened in 10 years.
If it happens more, I would be concerned. I would just start with a good cleaning if you want.

A 1919 gun? If you haven't cleaned the internals what's where I would start. As you well know oil tends to attract dirt and debris. Pull the sideplate and douse it with spray brake or carb cleaner---- the Smith guys will be glad to walk you through this easy procedure.

I do not recommend that an uninitiated person disassemble an LCSmith. Please take this up on the LCSmith forum before proceeding. David
