Maybe at least an asterisk for Hal Lyman, as I am not aware of his having written any hunting stories.

He was a SALT WATER SPORTSMAN magazine colleague of Frank Woolner, who wrote TIMBERDOODLE! and GROUSE and GROUSE HUNTING, and with whom he collaborated on fishing books, and is photographed and cited in Woolner’s bird hunting stories, albeit described as “lost without his 16-gauge English double”. But, he did own a Parker Invincible.

I know Larry. He's the guy on the right with a Parker Repro. I'm on the left, with an H&H RSE

At one time Larry had one of the rather scarce Savage-era 16-gauge Fox-Sterlingworths built on the flat-sided SP-frame.

Steve Smith at one time wrote about hunting grouse and woodcock with his VH 16.
