My 32" Vulcan Steel #0 frame 20 gauge barrels, installed by Parker Brothers as a second set on an A-1 Special, letter with 2 7/8" chambers. My old, now gone, #2 frame VH 20 gauge barrels, serial number 153,333, letter as 3" chambers. Where is that gun now?

I have a 20ga DH 26" 6lb gun that was made for 3 inch shells per letter and hang tags. But back then it was a 7/8 oz load.

Now that gun, makes me envious. What do those pellet counts come out as in terms of choke? It looks like a nicely contrasting combination, well suited for upland game.

Garry the chokes are rt .017 & lt .029. Kinda tight with modern shells, I use 7/8 oz spreaders. It's a great gun.

Beautiful Harold! That is is one nice looking 16 gauge.

On those 3" 20 gauge shells, it seem like I read that they were more about the pattern than payload. Much different than want the 3" 20 gauge shell evolved into. That hangtag and box of shells show that that the 3" initially still had 7/8oz of lead. James, that is a wonderful Parker! So nice that you have the hang tags and it is such a good looking gun!

I suspect you're 100% correct on the shells .

However I've got two flats of nice new Browning 20 gauge 3" shells holding 1 1/4 ounces of #5's that will be used in a Parker or Parker Repro with 2 7/8" or 3" chambers whatever the case me be at tower pheasants

Sounds like the recipe for a broken stock and shoulder.

They will pattern horribly Craig. One ounce is pushing it. Anything more than 7/8oz in a 20ga. doesn't yield any benefits. Follow me for more advice.
