Vig is the shortened version of "vigorish" = a term used for a premium paid over the selling price. Also known as the juice. Vig is also used in other contexts besides gun auctions.

Thanks Frank. So early in the day and I’ve learned something new already!

I think Patrick (PML) hit the nail on the head here. A beautiful and rare gun.

Right... in today’s market.

Josh, ever the statesman, you might comment on some of the $100K+ Parkers sold in years past by James Julia. I think Patrick's response, although a bit acerbic, could be said at anytime, simply because of the nature of auctions.
I remember guns from past auctions, such as the Lumber Baron's gun, which went for huge money, but it didn't impress me any more than this gun.
I have to side with Gary in as much as I think this gun, white line or no white line, would have probably commanded a bit more a few years ago.
I never had any aspirations of owning that gun, but I appreciate being able to see the many quality pictures posted by the auctioneer. Maybe it's post Super Bowl nasties, but I don't get why people waste time to post in attack mode.

Didn't Bill Jaqua buy the "Little Persuader" 28 gauge for something over $100K about 30-35 years ago, and sell it very quickly thereafter?

I just had this gun in my hands, it is as right as rain.I cannot say how the owner got the information, but the missing books said it is what it is.
