Jeff P., the date of the Runge note/letter is of utmost importance. After he retired from Remington as a master engraver, Bob not only did a lot of Del Grego/Runge upgrades, but also did some "special project' work on a number of Parker Guns at the behest of individual owners upon request. Something that is vastly under-researched and/or documented is the considerable number of pistols that Bob Runge engraved after his retirement from Remington. At the Las Vegas show 15 or more years ago, a member showed me a Ruger Bearcat .22 LR with extra .22 Magnum cylinder that Bob had done for him in the early 1980s that featured full-coverage engraving (including the extra .22 Mag cylinder). It was a real work of art!

When I was corresponding with Emil Linder in the sixties, he alluded to the fact that his BHE .410 was original. This was before the "records" were opened, so he was winging it. When Larry Baer published the pictures, he also suggested that the BHE was original. However, he was a bit prejudiced because I think he owned the gun at the time. I still don't think we know for sure it is original.
