Dennis,

I left the M-16A2 with the Corps when I retired a decade and a half ago. Because of this idiocy over assault rifles I may just buy an AR-15 and a half dozen magazines just because I can.

Semper Fi,
Mark

Mark, Semper Fi. I have to tell you (as you know already) nothing brings more pride in my past than my service in the USMC. Thanks for your service over so many years. I only did my 4 years and then got out in 1968 after 2 tours in Vietnam with HMM-265 at Marble Mountain and Northward from there.

I bought my first AR-15 not because I really wanted one but because the 1994 gun ban was about to come up. Until Barack H. Obama came onto the scene Bill Clinton was the biggest gun dealer of all time. Like you I hate to have a government tell me I can't have something that I am going to use safely. I bought an M1-A for the same reason. Now that I have the AR I use it for coyotes, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, etc. If the time comes that I need it for self defense I have it. No matter what the anti gunners say it is a superb hunting rifle. What really angers me though is the anti gunners don't simply want Assault Rifle looking guns. They want them all. In the past I have heard anti gunners who wanted hunting rifles with scopes because they were really sniper rifles in disguise. 50 caliber rifles like the Barrett are also going to be under attack because they are a heavy rifle. It makes no difference that nobody would ever use one for a crime. It looks assault rifle ish if you know what I mean. There is no satisfying these idiots. Semi auto shotguns then pump shotguns and finally side by sides will be taken if we don't all stand up to these gun grabbers and don't give an inch at any time.

For those of us who don't like the Assault Rifle types (and that is fine) you really should stand up for mine because your Parker will be next if you don't.

In 1958 I turned in my Garand, presented my papers at the main gate, and went on to the next chapter. Not counting my 1911, I haven't had a military type firearm since until two years ago when a friend persuaded my to try his AR15. I was really surprised at how well it handled; an easy carry, negledgible recoil, geometry that kept you on target after the shot and MOA groups. So, I got a basic S&W M&P and fixed it up with a better grip, a 10 shot mag for field use, my old Lupy 3-9 scope and a Chip McCormic trigger. It's just the thing for targets, ground hogs and coyotes.

Mr. Fabian;
I've long believed that our Govt. is corrupted from the top down. They have had their hands in this drug war for 40+ years. Baltimore is known as the heroin capital of the country and the local and fed. govt. just give the "war" lip service. Answer me this... Why do you need a background check to buy a gun but not to be the POTUS?
Dennis;
I've been self employed since I got out of college. I've always distrusted the govt. and have absolutely no respect for career politicians after having to deal with their mind numbing regulations and knee jerk reactions. They do nothing but line their pockets with our money, have superior health and retirement benefits that the rest of us have no chance of ever receiving. I resent that to the Nth degree. I produce. They are destroying the country I love and the way of life that is the finest in the world. Right now I'm going to fight the fight for my grandchildren. They will NEVER take my guns. I want my Gkids to enjoy my Parkers, 1911's and AR's. Everyone MUST bombard their local and federal reps. with e-mails, phone calls and letters.
