In 20 and 16ga Foxes rule compared to Parker 20/16's. The frame of a Fox is much more petite and Foxes generally weight less than Parkers. The Parker frame is to long and looks out of balance on 20/16's. I expect lots of hate mail LOL!!

On a side note I once had a Parker BHE 20 30" straight stock and a Fox DE 20 30" straight stock side by side on my rack. The Parker BHE 20 is still there.

It’s like a choice between beautiful Blondes or Brunettes for me. I love them all and want to take every one I see home. It sure is easier to own one of the Parker’s though. And then there is the 28 gauge…

Mike mentioned Fox small bores for the uplands. Besides their weight and looks, IMO Foxes are better than Parkers for the inevitable bumps and falls while upland hunting. Take it from a guy who does chokes. Vintage Parker steel barrels are typically quite soft and easily dented. I heard that from an old time gunsmith 40 some years ago and confirmed for myself when opening chokes on both makers. Fox barrels are typically way harder. I much prefer to do Parker chokes = quick, easy and very little wear on the reamers.
Here's one of my tapered choke reamers and free-cut chips from a Parker (both barrels) done about a month ago for a local friend who asks a lot of questions for his friend. Next time I do a Fox I'll post another pic showing the difference in chip size and shape from tougher reaming. |
