Don't want to sound like a traitor, but I booked at the Quality Inn down the road, figuring I would cancel and book at the Hampton when the kinks got worked out. Now, I am just going to stay at the Quality Inn.

I talked to the manager today and there are only 7 rooms of the 75 room block left so it can’t be that there are that many issues. The hotel staff will not give a confirmation number out to anyone other than the person booking the room. That is a security problem.

The person I talked to promised to plug me in after taking all of my information. He promised that he would call back, but, in any case, I would have a room even though he couldn't give me a confirmation number. Sometime later, I called the same number and gave all my information again to a person who said there were no blocked rooms. Suspicious, I asked where she was talking to me from. She said she was with Hilton Reservations. I told her I had called the hotel. She replied that the hotel was not in the reservation business and my call was automatically switched to Hilton Reservations. The only rate she could give me was $199. I then called the hotel, making sure I was actually talking to the hotel, not a reservation contractor. The person read off the confirmation number that I had just received from the reservation contractor. At least that much worked. She said that the clerk who took my reservation had been fired and did not "plug me in" as he had promised. The "hotel" could only give me the $199 rate and no one on premises is authorized to give me any other rate. The manager, AJ or Antonio, might be in tomorrow or he may not be. She would have him call me but could not tell me when. I am not happy with the Hampton, and too stressed to call the Comfort. I think I will just head for the Northeast shoot.
