That's some beautiful wood. I haven't gotten to the point that I can afford anything above a VH. Maybe one day....

Here is my before and after of my VH 20GA. Had a stick of english I was dying to use. Made a dramatic difference in the look of the gun I think.

I always liked the wood on this early DH short barreled 10-bore, and if I remember correctly it ended up going to an old curmudgeon in the Maryland area...

Best, CSL

Chris, that is a rather nice piece of wood on the old DH ten. However, I don't shine them up, so that's the best that one is ever going to look. Stripped and reoiled, it would be outrageous, I guess. Was that once your gun?

Murph, You are right it's a nice piece of wood, and that's the way it looked the day you picked it up in the on-line auction... I always thought you should have at least bought that guy a beer who came here to the PGCA forum asking advice on whether or not it was a good gun for him to buy with those odd length short barrels... It sure was nice of him to tell you where it was listed when you asked which web-site it was on..... Nope, it never belonged to me, but like you, I admired it's unique features (including the wood)...

Best, CSL

Calvin per your request here are some more pics of the CHE Bernard 16. It will make a fine Pheasant gun....even better with the set of 12ga bbls that fit to it.
