The first year I brought guns down I think it was 2021 . Think I had close to two dozen shotguns with me , most were to shoot as I wasn’t sure what I wanted for the course . But I did bring five or six that could be bought . But I never mentioned it or made an effort . Anymore I bring nothing someone hasn’t expressed an intrest in before we get there .

Wasn't there some chatter about the organizer 'speaking" to some guys selling in the parking lot?
A few years ago, I got yelled at after talking about buying/selling/trading back by the Parker tent 5 stand parking area. I honestly didn't even think I was doing anything wrong at the time. I was just excited to be talking about Parkers and possibly getting another one.

Myself and the other person were given a lecture about how vendors spend money to rent out tables and we would be asked to leave if we were "buying/selling". I certainly wasn't intentionally trying to break any rules. If you know me you know that's just not my personality, I was bothered by the "talking to" I received as I honestly didn't know what I didn't know.

So please take that under advisement.

Jay, was the guy who talked down to you Bill Kempfler or the new guy?

IMO if a vendor at his booth doesn’t have what I want, at a price I think is a fair price, and be isn’t willing to dicker, I will look elsewhere… and if it happens to appear in a parking lot, or walking the shooting course, I will strike a deal wherever the opportunity presents itself.
I will not obviously break any rules and will conduct a deal very discreetly… as I have done twice in the past.

That's reasonable Dean. Were someone to walk up to me in the parking area or at my hotel with a shootable dimensioned fine conditioned 20g Trojan and mistakenly tell me it was for sale....let me see...would I go look for one in a booth or buy it? We all know the answer.

You are a better man than I Jay. I would have told him to pound sand. I'm at the point in life where I don't take kindly to being scolded. At the very moment you were being dressed down I bet there were at least 100 or more private deals in the works. Does that person understand that if Parker were to pull out of that challenge thingy he would be singing a different tune? Just saying.

Bill, I don't remember who it was, and I don't think they remember me as I have had nothing but a great experience down there since.

I can see them wanting to protect the vendors and justify the table rental fees. I do think meeting up at the Southern to buy or sell from/to a friend is certainly reasonable.

Daryl, i was really more speechless than anything as they were very loud/serious about the whole thing. I apologized for not knowing their policy. You're right I always see a lot of private deals going on.

Needless to say, I am a bit more discrete these days...

I am a little surprised at this whole no no about selling guns at these shoots. Seems to me that a month before each one at least the Parker For Sale Section is awash in offers to sell guns and that they will only be available at whatever the upcoming shoot happens to be. Am I missing something?
