I’ve not observed any changes in the engraving patterns but the forearm checkering seems to vary a good bit.

My SC has the above type engraving and no birds in flight. I think it is a 1917 gun. I was owned by Ray Folger the SFO coffee magnate. I bought it from his son in law 30 years ago. I shoot it. Beaver tail forearm. Pretty wood, but I think it is factory. I'd post pics if I could. I did a decade ago. I suppose they are archived somewhere.
