Ditto. Problem is no carrier here will transport "dangerous goods" mixed in with the rest of their load. New issue as well involves the export requirements from USA side. The FFL I have used for 3 purchases says he could put all the export documents together but the end price for ammo by that route is too expensive. I have been working with a local Gunworks shop to see if they can get it here. Tough to keep reading about how great RST ammo is and not be able to just buy a flat. If anyone gets it figured out how to bring RST to Canada, it will be a happy day up here.

I remember picking every shot paper hull and giving it a smell as a kid. Sometimes I still do it with plastic but it an't the same. Gonna get me some 16 paper rst's.

Dad perhaps it's time to set up the reloading bench. I'm doing my own now and it's a lot more fun to empty the cases than to fill them but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm loading 12,16, &20's all 2.5 inch cases low pressure.

My new grouse & woodcock load is from New Era Ammunition. 2 inch paper 16's roll crimped and if memory serves it's a 5/8's oz load.

Richard, when splitting hairs on pressures, I have learned that New Era has the lowest, followed by RST and then Polywad. The data I gleaned may not be correct, though, as often times we learn on the internet! For some, the differences may be moot, but I kinda like to do my homework and go for the lowest number. Are all of New Era's cartridges paper hulled? RST's paper hull loads tickle the olfactories just like the 'originals'! About 6 months ago, I e-mailed the folks at New Era concerning short 10s. They do not plan on it in the foreseeable future.

I am reloading 16's. were did you get your paper hulls and whats your recipe?

20.5 gr of SR7625, Win 209 primer, Galandi SG16 wad. I'm loading 2.5 inch RST hulls scrounged up from various shoots. Brian @ new Era is loading the paper hulls. You can get these from Graff and Son but I think they need to be trimmed if you want the 2.5 inch length.

Paper hulls are only good for one loading as they weaken either at the base or don't hold up well during the final crimp stage. When I hunt with paper shells I just use the RST ammo other than the special 2 inch 16's. Brian did a custom run for someone so I asked for some extras.

New Era 16 gauge shells have the following pressures:
2 3/4" 3/4oz: 7,400psi
2 1/2" 7/8oz: 7,100psi
2 1/2" 1oz: 7,700psi

RST's 2 1/2" shells range from 5300 psi to approx. 6200 psi.

Are these similar pressures to what the pressure ranges would have been for the early ammo. produced during the transition to smokeless powders back in the day?

Sherman Bell published his test results with black powder in the short 10s about 11 years ago. His results are in line with RST's numbers. I just tried a box of RST's 10 gauge loads in my 8 pound Baker and was really pleased with the lack of recoil and the cleanliness of the bore afterward.
