Younger son borrowed my 10 for turkey this week, a VH 12 goes with him on occasion and my granddaughter has told me my repro 20 is too pretty for her to carry in the woods, she would be worrying about it too much. They have all picked out 2 or 3 guns they like and use them from time to time but they bring them back,at least for now.

Got mine here in Wheeling, WV., yesterday, and read it on a rainy afternoon today. It hit me that I know most--but not all--of those who wrote articles, or were featured in the pictures.
I started off with Dean Romig's "My Perfect Woodcock Gun", and realized I have seen and held some of those. On to Andy Cook's story of his hunt with his Parker and his daughter. Now Andy and I havent met, but we have exchanged pm's, and are both optometrists. Nice read Andy. Shot quite a few rounds with Randy Roberts, Chuck Bishop, and Brett Hoops at Mike Koneski's last year. Perseverance pays off Randy. Mills always comes thru, and I have met all in that group except Tom Wooden. Mills, what hardware store in Atlanta did that O frame VH 26" gun come from. My DHE O 16 came from Anderson Hardware in Atlanta, is also 26" cyl/mod and weighs 6 lbs on the nose--but my 1 frame VH 16 28" is definately a better pheasant gun. When I think of big guns, Craig Larter comes to mind, and his treatise on the big 8 ga was well done. Good job Mike and Sammy, hope to see all of you at Hausmann's.

Thanks Harold! It was Anderson Hardware I believe. It sat in my local gunshop about 2 years. I made the guy an offer and never got a response. Finally walked in, asked him what he could do, he told me and I laid down my card. Don’t think he thought I would bite.

That gun would be a wonderful grouse gun with those chokes and weight. I also have a VH20 26" that is cyl/mod and also is 6 lbs. I always figured my DHE 16 was some quail hunters gun.

Mine came day before yesterday, but I didn't see it until I got home from the field that day. Yesterday morning it was in the cab of the John Deere with me. I'd turn her around, press the Autosteer button, and crack open Parker Pages. I read a couple of articles "between the ends". Until........ the rows got too short!
Great issue! Thanks to all who contributed, and especially to Mike and Sam. |
