Dean I have learned that your dream gun is available. The only difference is it's an AAHE and it is slightly more than $10K. 20ga 26 inch IC/F PG, SPL silvers pad. Wonderful engraving and it's in the book. A grouse gun of the first order.

Recent prices on tired Purdeys have been very soft. If you want a Purdey, keep your nose to the ground.

Default if you had $10k...my answer

Thank you all for your input. The responses were all very interesting and have decided to look for one of the following in 2017, and buy the best deal: 1) Win 21 16ga 28" IC/Full PG BT SST, 2) Parker 16ga 0 frame Top Lever 28" IC/Full PG SF DT Best grade and condition affordable and in 50xxx-54xxx serial range or 3) Parker 16ga 0 or 1 frame Hammerless IC/Full PG SF SST or DT Best grade and condition affordable.

I'll be flexible to barrel choke configuration but like the wide/tight patterns. I've been shooting IC/Full for most of my life and for almost everything including quail... never seem to get that second close shot off fast enough. So I'm going to stick with what has worked best for me. I have 2 Win 21's now, 20 and 12, and would like to slot in a 16. A Parker 16 would take me in a new direction and would be alongside my 12 Top Lever and 20 3-barrel Repro. I thank our excellent economy for giving me this opportunity to buy a great gun.

16 ga DH damascus 30" on a #1 frame 6 3/4lbs, choked mod/full, pistol grip with SBP, nice used to well used but cared for original condition. For closer work use RST Spreaders. Good for a great variety of upland birds (and decoying ducks!). Have fun with your search!!

ch got it right, plain and simple: 16 gauge 0 grade hammer gun with fishtail because I have one cyl and full and it's absolutely magic upland and anything over decoys. It mounts perfectly by itself and no amount of gew-gaws can make it any better.

I would take one of the Parker Invincibles if who ever started this thread would agree to chip in what ever the cost is over 10k.

I know the 10K would only amount to a down payment on this but I'd love to find a GHE 28 w/ 28" damascus tubes to join my 16 and 20 GHE damascus guns that have 28" tubes.

Craig I'm close with a DH 16 90%case but with 26 inch Damascus factory choked IC/F. I really didn't think I'd like that combination but after trying it I really do like the tight choke for the second shot(when needed) even for grouse.
