BTw Ol Elizabeth could shoot and is a tough built by cajuns woman.
Ya know seeing a savvy young lady successfully chasing game with Parker shotguns might not be a bad idea. Sounds like a great opportunity to promote classic sxs's and Parker's. |

Cajuns (Acadians) were originally neighbors of Chris Dawe. Not from Newfoundland, but New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They were French colonists in the maritime provinces who wouldn't assimilate when the English took over. Took a while, but eventually they were rounded up and shipped off, many ending up in the U.S. south.

I forget how the Cajuns came to be in La. but I know it was quite a circuitous route. I think common thoughts were that British drop them there but I don't think that so. To far out of there way to drop of some disloyal Frenchman and England had no holdings or business interests at the time in La.

We should all take the time to read "Evangeline" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1847).

Just read this as I left Addieville to work in my Gun Room Man Cave on Cape Cod.
Martha was great both at shooting and tolerating her father trying to coach her. She needed little coaching. I tried to intervene on that gift but Edgar was in a generous mood even after seeing the high prices at RHO on a PR 28. Good man. |

What a wonderful story Edgar. You are rightfully proud of having raised such terrific daughter. Both my grandsons have told me they want to learn to shoot. They are 11 and 10 yrs respectfully. Im waiting for them to get to 12 and put a little more meat on the bone before starting them out.
