Inspired by your posts, Phil, we are winding up our year in the Flint Hills of Kansas. It sure is nice not hunting over crusted snow and ice. Good luck with the remainder of your season. Thanks for sharing those photos.

Got out for 3 hours today. Great day. Moved 2 coveys and got 5 points, 5 shots ended up with 3 birds.
Mearns quail don’t put off a lot of scent and finding singles after a flush can be tough on even highly experienced dogs.
Ollie pointed a single two separate times today after a flush. She is one heck of a dog. Sorry to see the season coming to a close. Already planning for next year. I may need to add a new puppy.

I envy you Phil. My bird season ends in mid-November when rifle deer season begins. It’s a self-imposed finish I know but then my hunting is over until next October if I want to remain welcome in my own house.

Phil, that looks like wonderful, arid country. Someday I hope to give it a try. I just hope I don't run out of somedays.

Your new pup sounds like a real keeper. I've had two that were ready "right out of the box," but none to the degree of your pup. Take good care of her. She's "livin' with the right boy," as my Pop would say of our dogs.
