I just read your post on losing your beloved friend.
All the memories, and emotions, of the ones I have lost came flooding back. My condolences on you, and your family's loss. |

THE CURATE THINKS YOU HAVE NO SOUL
The curate thinks you have no soul; I know that he has none. But you, Dear friend, whose solemn self-control, In our foursquare familiar pew, Was pattern to my youth -- whose bark Called me in summer dawns to rove -- Have you gone down into the dark Where none is welcome -- none may love? I will not think those good brown eyes Have spent their life of truth so soon; But in some canine paradise Your wraith, I know, rebukes the moon, And quarters every plain and hill, Seeking his master... As for me, This prayer at least the gods fulfill; That when I pass the flood and see Old Charon by the Stygian coast Take toll of all the shades who land, Your little, faithful, barking ghost May leap to lick my phantom hand. -- St.John Lucas

Get yourself another puppy as soon as you can. Sounds like it could do a lot of healing and it would do your son a lot of good.
Morning the loss of a loved one including our pets is normal and healthy, but it’s important that we allow some joy back into our lives. If we are lucky those of us that love hunting dogs will have a dozen or more in our lifetime. I lost one of the most loving dogs and hunting partner over 10 years ago. Lots of great memories, wish she was still around but she would be 24 now. The dogs that have come along since took away some of the sting from her loss, and have filled me even further with some wonderful moments. |
