This is the stock on a 1903 GH that I once owned.
When I first got this gun you couldn't see any grain at all it was so cruddy and the DHBP was worn and missing almost half of it. I brought it to this condition after several hours of work.

American Black Walnut on a 1902 12ga. GH with 27" Damascus barrels.

I refinished the wood myself. But I can't take all the credit - the wood would be pretty no matter who did it.
