I know the skeet chokes have been discussed before, where they are listed SK-1 & SK-2. Although everyone indicates they are only marked skeet & both are the same. I just purchased an unfired SCC that belonged to Donovan Kirkpatrick & the two skeet chokes are different. The first is marked Winchester 12-S (.733). The 2nd is not marked Winchester 12-S. It's marked S with an electric pen (729). I'd like to hear back from Kirkpatrick if the electric pen marked S choke is original to the gun. If it is, then it is a SK-2 since it's .004 tighter than the Winchester 12-S choke.

For info, the 6 chokes from my SCC 12-1526 are marked:
12-S, 12-S, 12-IC, 12-M, 12-F, and 12-XF. All have the Winchester label under the choke identifier letters. Interesting in that I don't recall anyone mentioning having an XF in the set. |

All of mine are marked Winchester, except for the one marked S with an electric pen. Also, no XF, but have IM.

Greg, I had read a couple of your posts on the versatility of the SCCs before I saw the one Josh had at the Southern SxS. That was the reason it caught my attention...
In upland hunting in thick cover in the Southern Appalachians, I have always favored 26" barrels...Josh found a set of original factory new 26" Q1 and Q2 barrels, which I purchased and plan to have fitted to the SCC making it an even more versatile 2-barrel set. I hope this will also add to the value of the gun.... Thanks for your posts that brought the SCCs to my attention. |

Thank you for that Phil. We band of SCC owners belong to a pretty exclusive club! It appears your XF tube was substituted for the customarily found IM tube in the SCC set. I also have an Winchester XF Winchoke choke tube which I later purchased along with a Browning-stamped CYL choke tube.
My choke tubes mike out with the following constrictions, I had posted these previously, but for the benefit of new owners here they are once again: * CYL = .000 * Skeet = .003 * IC = .009 * M = .016 * IM = .019 * F = .029 * XF = .039 David, you can see from the attached Winchoke pamphlet a Skeet ll choke tube isn't listed. Skeet ll choke is generally thought of being a little tighter than IC at ~.012. Given that yours aren't stamped with the Winchester logo I would suspect it is an aftermarket tube, that's not to mean it isn't useful. Maybe Donovan can shed some light on it. ??

Donovan responded to me & said he's had the SCC for 12 years & did not add the additional Skeet choke. He didn't indicate if he was the original owner. You're correct that the additional Skeet choke is not a Winchester choke, but another manufacture. It doesn't have the larger OD lip @ the end of the choke like Winchester chokes do. It's the same OD from top to bottom & the S marking is in electric pen.
