The pineapple motif shows up a lot in 18th century american furniture as carving and finials. Have seen it also on early american silver and weapons.

We know that factory ejectors were not made on guns this early, and the damascus doesn't fit the original specs. Also, look at the barrel flats and lug. It looks unusual to see the lug in blued steel soldered into the damascus barrels. I would guess this was done while refitting the gun with ejectors. All in all, looks like a factory refit with damascus bbls and ejectors. An interesting gun!

While refitting with ejectors. Shouldn't the forearm been replaced? The serial number on the barrel lug is 84025

I didnt know the barrel lug number was different than the frame. I would guess that rules out a factory refit of the barrels. Yes, I think the complete forend would have to be relaced, wood, iron, and internals, to convert it to an ejector, along with the frame being drilled and separate ejector plungers installed in place of the extractor. Do the ejectors work?
