What kind of dogs are under the tree at the Osthaus house?

those are a pair of dejected Old Hemlock English Setters

OH Osthaus on the right and OH Griffin on the left, they just plain hate to pose

You need to give them a bath. The white one rubbed some color off on the black one. and visa versa.

you can't point a camera ( or crappy cell phone in this case) in this room without getting at least one bird dog print in the shot. And the odds are pretty good it will be a Frost or an Osthaus.

That one is Frost's "Ruffed Grouse Shooting"

and if you look close, the younger dog's cat is peeking out from behind the base of the tree.
