Unless a miracle happens, the pad will still take some fitting. As long as the outside dimentions are even with or larger than the butt of your gun it's fine.

Well guys i checked the measurements this morning and the pad is undersized in the length. So i think i will stick with the sporting clay pad for now. You guys were all great, thanks a lot. Well i am off to shoot a couple rounds of skeet with my full and full choked Parker.

Sorry the Hawkins pad is not quite the right size- as others have said here, better a bit oversized for the masking tape and buff down to fit proceedure-I sorta suspected it might be undersized, as the Trojan that wore it had a LOP of 13.625" from front trigger (a 3" DAH)- so even had that stock not been broken at the wrist and comb areas, I would have replaced it for a better fit- proper stock fit and trigger pulls are my "keys" to successful game shooting with a double gun- Several of my LC Smith 12 bores are Full and Full or Imp. Mod and Full-but I don't shoot skeet, and only occasional SC double gun events in the Non-Fall seasons--I have used the Poly-Wad spreaders and they pattern well, but a tad bit expensive for shooting clay discs that your dog can't retrieve or you can marinate in Vernor's Ginger Ale-sliced apples and brown sugar and bacon and grill in Reynolds' Wrap foil and have a better feast than any prime rib at the Lockerbie Club-or the DuQuense Club- or in your case Gary- the Canadian Club. I do have a Pachmayr solid brown pad from a Browning SBT (Kawasaki mfg.- the gun, not the pad) that might fit, but a Hawkins or a Silvers would be the most "correct"--and I have beaucoup screws, both straight slotted and Phillips head- if you need some-

Thanks Francis i really appreciated all the time you spent with me. For now i will shoot it with the sporting clay pad that i had fitted to the gun, it fits me perfect.

Francis my GH Parker serial no. 58304, would there be any info on it? I know it was made in 1889.

You might want to check the serial number and grades listing on another area or perhaps consider getting a letter on your Parker-I am a "rookie" here, there are many PGCA members who have studied and researched Parkers from here to there and back, and know their Parkers: Among those are: Bill Murphy, Austin Hogan, Don Kaas, John Dunkle, Dave Suponski, Eric Eis, Bill Bolyard, Jent Mitchell III and Bruce Day- and for those others I omitted, my apologies- no slight meant on my part- but I have read and re-read many of their informed posts and learned from them and their experiences over the years. Many of these gentlemen also own, shoot and belong to the other double gun organizations, so their expertise extends beyond "America's Finest Shotgun" as well-

I'm more of a "shooter" than collector, historian or writer. If a double gun fits me, has two triggers, is a 12 gauge and shoots well for me- it's a "keeper". Items of interest to other members, such as mfg. date, case coloring, blueing, refinishing, restoring, are not in my baliwick, but there is indeed "something for everyone" here in the PGCA- and you are a welcomed member, whether you own a 16 ga. Trojan, a 12 ga. SBT, or a set of CHE grades in all gauges (Wow)-- or even no Parker gun at present- just being interested in a high grade hand made by the "old men with files and lampblack" is enough.

If I should come across a larger Hawkins or Silvers period pad that might work for your Parker, I'll so advise. My personal choice is pads has always leaned towards the solid red pads with the hole plugs- June 6, 1922 Patent Date and found on many pre-War Winchesters-

Your GH should have 28" barrels and a pistol grip stock, 12ga. There are factory records for this gun. Go to the home page, click on Research Letters, download the form and send it in. $60 for a non member and $40 for members. Consider joining the PGCA.
