False alarm. Since I had the 20 repro out of the safe and the weather broke a bit I decided to shoot it. When I got home and was cleaning it I felt a rough spot on the barrels where the “made in Japan” should be. I grabbed a stiff bristled brush and made a couple swipes and there it was. Honestly, I think it was shoe polish or a wax like material.
