Hammer Gun without Damascus barrels

I am aware of 30+ documented fluid steel Parker hammer guns. I know of one 8 gauge, two 20 gauges and the rest are 12 gauge guns. Nearly all of them are D grades or higher and would be pretty pricey if you find one. Like others have said, many of us use low pressure nitro powder ammo on a regular basis in our Damascus barreled hammer guns with no problems.

Damascus barrels - I've read that you need to have them checked by a good gunsmith before using them even with specialist loads. I'm assuming they would need to be a specialist in this area ; as it would be outside the knowledge of most?

David the Hodgdon and Alliant reloading websites will give you plenty of options for low pressure loads. Personally I believe that both Damascus and fluid steel barrels in our double guns should be inspected or measured for proper wall thickness before shooting anything in them. Some of them have been worked on by unknowing hands over the years. There's a lot of information on the subject on the forum. Those Damascus barrels will serve you well if they're solid and you feed them the right fodder. Good luck.

That gun has had a lot of improper/inaccurate work done to it. Yes, the stock work. Add cyanide coloring and barrel rib work to the mix and it leaves nothing untouched.

The one thing that stood out to me was the hinge pin was installed backward? But I'm very new and green and short on Parkers. Don

You’re right, it was reinstalled backwards. And the drop points are not in the Parker Bros. style.
