Simple solution to buying at the show is to purchase one on the way to the show.Then you don't feel so inclined at said show.
Since you didn't technically by a gun at the show theres no relapse or weakness.
Show is purely for research and comparison.

I almost bought one on the way up, but held off.

Mark I invented "creative financing" when it comes to buying guns. I have also bought some prior to the Southern and other such events only to be seduced by some small bore Parker, Fox or English gun while there.

I'm not a strong willed person when it comes to fine firearms. I thought I had my last custom rifle finished last fall but a Winchester High Wall action has surfaced and as the saying goes the rest is history

All I can say is Thank God there is no Miss SXS pageant at this event.There are enough distractions at that show.

yeah Rich...I was doing okay until the exhibitors were rolling up their stuff on Sunday afternoon...stopped by this one guy that had a bunch of .410's...and was looking at an IJ Skeet-Er, decided against it, and the guy asked if I would be interested in an Elsie .410...The two on display, one was toast, and the other had some sort of carving in the stock and forend, so I said I was not. He replied that he had another one in the car, that he could not decide to sell or not, brought it out, and it is within 5% of being mint. Made him a package price along with an Ithaca Flues Field grade 28 bore.....and he took it...so I took 'em.

Sold one at the Southern and when I got home I bought one. That makes me even on guns and down on money.

This thread remindes of an old Poem:

“There was a man in our town,
And he was wondrous wise,
He jumped into a bramble-bush,
And scratched out both his eyes;
And when he saw his eyes were out,
With all his might and main
He jumped into another bush
And scratched them in again.”
