I find it great news that American Airlines now is flying directly from Miami to Cordoba. I just did a quick search on the American web site and couldn't find any of these direct flights. Everything I looked at had a transfer to another airline in either Santiago or Lima. Would you please direct me on how to find the Miami/ Cordoba direct flights.
The biggest headache with traveling to Cordoba has always be the transfers in Chile or Peru. Flying through Buenos Aires is even worse due to having to change airports along with different airlines.

Ditto most all of the above but I'll add the single MOST important thing - check your passport's expiration date before doing anything else !!! I personally know someone who didn't and was stopped cold by customs before changing planes in Chile; his passport had expired 2 weeks before his trip and the customs staff in the US had never caught it. They turned him right back around onto the next flight to Miami. It happens!
