John, you should see a pretty faint left arrow and right arrow to the left and right of the picture.

No, the wood was flat beneath most steel butt plates.

The comb looks about perfect to me for that period.

The butt looks curved, just like all "buttplate" Parkers. Ed does not give us a picture that shows the comb from the top.

I thought Mark meant 'convex' under the domed steel plate rather than the usual curved contour.
