Enjoyed the comments on the 30 inch gun. It just did not look just right. Were not cheeks of DH guns sometimes checkered ? The checkering pattern appears to differ from the grip checkering.

Checkered cheeks on grades below BH would be special order.

The givaways of this one not being factory is the quality of the work. It is coarser than the grip checkering and the diamonds are not even laid out straight.

That wood looks fancier than that found on most DHE's--my DHE 16 has checkered cheeks also, cant find a repair, but never had the stock off. Beaautiful gun, thanks for posting it Gary

There were some factory D grades that had Checkered cheeks that letter, but this one is not one of them.!

I have a DHE 20 that letters with checkered cheeks and two 30 inch guns and a 32. The long barrels are very nice on a clays course or open country bird hunting but not for grouse/woodcock hunting.
