Well gosh, thanks Bruce. I like the shield but what I really like is the fact that the spacer is made from a Parker stock. I'll post photos of the whole rod when it's done.

Check out items #4 and 5 on Bob Summers' web site. Great looking hard leather cases for fly rods. Would one fit your wonderful rod?
Bob apprenticed with Paul Young, and is one of America's legendary rodmakers. Lots of other neat items on his site.

I'm not in the rod making business but I know the guys at Bellingers pretty well, they are the best. I have a few more of the reel seats, if anyone wants one mounted on a custom Bellinger rod PM me and we can get another one made (it would be a lot nicer than mine too). I've also thought of making the reel seat hardware out of a wrecked Damascus barrel. Problem is it would have to be a 16 or 20 and there's not a lot of them floating around. If any body has a blown up 16 damacus they want to sell cheap let me know.

Oh great, now the wheels are turning.... Talk about a custom made affliction: a bamboo fly rod, fitted with a Parker shield and damascus sliding ring and cap. Just start the blood letting now.

Dave, I have some 12 ga. damascus barrel material. How about slitting it and resizing for whatever diameter you need.

Dave,
You could check with Dale Edmonds. I would think if anyone had some extra Damascus barrel material it would be someone like him.
