Hmmm... food for thought. If Tony won't do it I guess we know who will. Nice to see a little competition in the barrel-making arena.

There were a bunch of us who wanted CSMC to make barrel sets for our 0-Frame hammer guns but Tony flatly said "No". There may be more than one way to skin a cat.

I spoke with the owner a Mr. Jim Wright and am awaiting more info regarding their capabilities. I was told they are the largest gun repair facility in the country with 18,000 sq. ft. dedicated to repair and restoration. They have a website http://www.simmonsguns.com/ and there phone is 913-782-3131. All I know at this point is what I was told and have not heard good or bad any references about their work. I do know they do work for almost every major gun mfg. and have since the 50's so they should have it down pretty well by now.

If Simmons is doing it then it should be good work. I'll be interested to see how all this plays out.

Kurt,
I have no idea, but suspect that the colors were redone when the barrels were monoblocked to 20 gauge. I purchased the gun from an old trap shooter who had retired to Florida. Fritz shot with hammer guns and had a few Parkers for sale in the Double Gun Journal and that is how I came by it. I had no idea it was not an honest 20 gauge until the "Book" came out and I found it to have started life as a 16 gauge. After closer inspction I could tell where the barrels had been cut. The stock had been cut at the wrist to give it "modern" dimentions and it never held after several local attempts so I had it restocked. Another one of my ten footers (looks good from ten feet). I won at the Southern with it a few years ago, but suspect I was the only one shooting in that event with a 20 gauge hammer gun. Harry |
