Will, congratulations if you got that gun---and I have its twin. I would have thought it would bring a good bit more. The "book" also states that mine is a CPG, but has a straight grip. WE took the trigger guard off mine, and it is an original st. grip guard and the ser # is stamped in the wood under the guard also. Factory letter says CPG, but also says the gun was returned for service in 1910 and the stock was "redressed". Barrels are 26" cyl/mod, and the LOP is 13 7/8 to the skeleton butt plate, thus the slip on pad. Many knowledgeable people have gone over my gun and say that the stock is definitely Parker original and an original trigger guard, with the proper ser # on the back side.
Is that an O frame? Yours looks like a great gun.

To answer a poster's question, the gun did not sell because it was pulled after only a day. People usually don't bid the first day unless they want to use buy it now. Great gun, Will. This guy was a gun trader on the East Coast many years ago, used to attend Harrisburg gun shows, had great Winchester shotguns. His tables were close to Doug Turnbull's Dad.

If the barrel length had been listed accurately, I too would have hit the BIN button.

I have also been informed by Chuck that the serial number is not readily available, although he is searching for me. Everyone please cross your fingers for good luck that he finds the record.

Very nice, Harold - btw, I always want to comment about your pup. Love the way he sits in that picture on the tailgate. The skeleton butt was the one thing I would want that this one didn't have. The drop was noticeable enough in the pictures for me to discuss it with the shop. I had the guy measure and it appears to be a photographic illusion. I can't remember the measurements he gave me, but it wasn't the 3+" I was expecting. I didn't even ask him the frame size. I was so relieved to hear the barrels were 28" that I moved straight in to buying mode without asking. I knew I had to get a deal worked out pretty quickly.

Will, ironically, mine came from Atlanta, from Anderson's Hardware, according to my letter. On the oval is "Joseph Gray, Atlanta, Ga." Had to be some old quail hunters gun ordered in at cyl/mod. I can just see it pulled from the wagon and going in over point by a pair of setters. Mine has a good bit of drop also, around 3"and does have a nice skeleton butt. My gun is a little older at ser 132xxx, from 1905. Looks like a wonderful gun and hope you get good news from Chuck.

I think Will got a great gun and I don't give a hoot what the Book says. The stock looks right as rain. I would have bought the gun myself, but Will saw it first.
If you don't want it Will, send it to me. I don't think that will happen.
