My experience is that Walmart usually receives shipments on the same days of the week. I suggest asking the person in Sporting Goods when you need to be there.

I attended the Dallas gun show last weekend and found three Parker's. One guy had two of them, a pretty rough PH 12ga and a not quite as rough VH. The tag on the VH said it had been upgraded with Vulcan steel barrels! I chuckled a bit about that. However, the barrels were from a different gun and had two tapped holes in the rib on the breech end. The size and spacing of the holes looked about identical to the ones on a Parker Try Gun where the measuring bar attaches. I don't recall the pricing on either gun since they were not to my liking. Both were overpriced, but not grossly so.
The third gun was a VHE with 30 barrels. This gun was very tempting. It had 90 percent case colors on the receiver and I'm fairly convinced they were original. Two things that made me pause on this gun was the barrel finish and the butt treatment. The barrels had about 99 percent blue but looked too smooth (lack of carding lines). The stock had been poorly fit to a recoil pad. It looked as if someone had a pad that was a bit too small and just tapered the stock down to fit it. The taper extended at least an inch and a quarter up the stock. This gun could have been saved and the asking price was only $3000 but I am a bit gun poor from recent purchases so I passed. I hope I see this gun again so I can inspect it in better lighting to ascertain the originality of the colors and bluing. I was surprised to see three Parker's though. |

Thanks guys, I will find out Walmarts ammo delivery day an go from there. I love to plink in the summer with my daughter. We shoot everything from a .22 AR to Ruger single six and even some old Marlin lever rifles in .22. The fun is endless. My daughter can shoot the bottom out of a plastic 20 oz coke bottle through the mouth of the bottle with the lid off. My eyes aren't that good.

Harry; Don't waste your time. Walmart in Canton shelves have been empty for ages. I have been looking for 22 mags for about a year. I found some in a pawn shop recently and also at a gun shop in Holly Springs. $13.99 for 50. Gun shows in Marietta and Atlanta had a few from $20 to $30. Just can't seem to make myself pay that yet. They tell me at Walmart that people wait in line for them to bring them out and buy them all instantly. They are selling them online. Gerald

If you care to hear one, play The Who's 'Join Together' and you will hear one loud and clear in the opening lines.
