Now the plot thickens--
I received my letter on the 1908 PH 16- 26" twist on the O frame- the stock is almost unmarred, checking unboogered- and it has a hardwood pin through the cheeks- recessed- dead on center- wonder if it was factory done- when I opened the gun up to replace the top lever leaf spring, the stock head had NO cracks or stress lines anywhere I could see- even with a magnifier-
Sounds like a great research concept for us- if any of the records show that, ditto the hickory or other hardwood dowel in the butt end- I didn't remove the DHBP- it is the early spurred version, and it look like it grew out of the wood- but I am curious indeed.. |
