The serialization book is wrong. This gun is in stock book 81. Many of these stock books have ink stamps and pencil entries that are faded out over time or were not fully imprinted when stamped. In 234425's case, the grade is not readable but VH was written in in red ink. CPG is also written in in red ink but you can tell it was stamped CPG. The gauge and barrel length are totally unreadable and have nothing in red ink. The stock dimensions are readable as is the weight which is very light. It matches the other 28ga. guns listed on the same page.
It's a 28ga. gun. Your welcome |

It would be well worth the price to have a letter with the available information. You are one lucky guy to have this gun and to have Chuck as your researcher.

Mark, as I said, there is stock book information on your gun but key info is not readable which would tell you the grade, gauge, and barrel length of that gun. The frame size is also not readable. You will get the stock dimensions, stock grip type, and the weight of the gun. This information plus the obvious engraving, barrel steel, barrel length with rib inscription, blank space at the end of the rib, ejectors, would make any potential buyer confident that it is a VHE, 28ga. gun. Your call if you want a research letter.

My 28 was also sold by A&F. It's sn is a little higher than yours. You will notice that the A&F ledger page Mr. Beach provided you is for like grade guns, VH in your case but I believe their ledger pages mixed ejector and non ejector guns.
My GHE28 was purchased by a banker on his lunch hour. His boss accompanied him to A&F, and, as the ledger page indicates, also bought a GH grade gun (consecutive sales of G grade) The banker's boss must have told him what to buy, because, when he speaks, people listen. His boss was EF Hutton. |
