Maybe now we’ll find out the provenance on this Parker and what the inscription on the knob plate says.

Or it will disappear into a dark hole not to be seen for 20 years.

$6K+ seems a bit 'inexpensive' for a Grade-2 lifter in 8 bore... but you never know.

Just as well that I lost out then. We wound up with a ton of pre 64 Model 70s.

It seems like many 8's have surfaced lately mostly hammer guns. The auction prices all seem to be about equal given condition etc. I have been doing some research on factory loaded 8ga shells. Black powder loaded shells were offered until the ammo companies stopped production a short time after 1918. Very few nitro loadings in 8ga were made. I'm sure all the 8's, including the later hammerless gun, saw plenty of black powder loads and corrosive primers hence the pitting.
They a lot of fun to shoot!! |

Although we lost out on the Rock Island ones, we picked up a SBT. Between John Davis' article and my son's growing interest in trap, it was about time. More to follow
