John:

If neither Chuck nor Dean know what the letter B designates then there is a good chance you may never get hard evidence. I was grasping at straws hoping we could find something, it seemed plausible. I would suggest that if you are really interested you join the PGCA and order a research letter. If you want to post pictures go to the homepage, then go to the FAQs and scroll down to the bottom, instructions can be found there. It is not that difficult. Best of luck to you.

It was a 12 ga. GHE. Remington owned Parker Bros. This stock was made in 1937 so it probably was made in Meriden, CT. I don't usually say "Don't bother ordering a letter" but we only have the IBM card and it's not really worth a letter IMHO.

The letter B could easily have been the initial or stamp of the stocker. Bruan Dedley wrote a pretty complete article on one stocker, Bannister, who often stamped his work PB as an example.

Bruan is my cousin. And Dedley is his middle name.

I still wager we are talking about an R here.

Photos please when the OP can.

For help with attaching pics go to the home page, scroll down to the FAQ's in the tree on the left, then scroll down to the bottom where you will find instructions for attaching pics. It's pretty straight forward.
