I really like and appreciate the input. I think it’s in fantastic shape for a 125 yr old example. It must have been a cherished possession of the original owner to be so well cared for . I feel blessed owning it.

Lining it up with the boards on your deck, it looks, not surprisingly, to have a lot of drop. Have you measured it? Read the thread on stock bending for some work-arounds for drop

Ray, you got a great deal on a nice old gun! I agree with Dean and Bob on the value, maybe $2000. If it feels good, just shoot and enjoy it. I wouldn't worry about bending or altering the stock, GEEZE!
