Looks, to me, like the keel is missing. Have those barrels been cleaned to check for signs of pitting or honing?

Barrel is not pitted, it has been opened up to RH CLY and LH CLY. Richard

It would help to see good pictures of the barrel flats and the rib legend to see if there are clues to the barrels being newer than the gun.

The mystery continues. Looks like the markings stop before the end of the barrel, with appropriate line. Barrel weight of 3lbs 9 oz seems a little heavy. My VH16 1 frame has 3lbs 5oz unstruck weight.
Nice looking gun regardless.

Those barrel flat markings with the Kf are right on for 1901.
