What is the length of the shell loaded and empty? Could they have been made with 2" chambered guns in mind?

Years back, for something to do, I loaded up about 7 boxes of 2" shells. Did it on a Mec Jr. Took some fiddling. If I remember, there's a extra long plunger I made for the final crimp station. They look cool, but that's about all. Shoot the same as any reduced pay loaded shell.

These little shells are less than 2"'s long, have a little over 1/2oz of 7 1/2 shot at 1200 fps. We were shooting wobble trap and I handed a few of these out. What a hoot! The gun goes off, the target shatters, you hear the noise, but there is absolutely zero recoil. I remember everyone laughing after their shot.

I shot some RST 2inch 12's out of a Stephan Grant hammer gun last January at Morrison Pines. No recoil and fun to shoot but the Quail didn't like them. I bought a case of RST paper 2 inch shells at the Southern and will use them in an English light game gun for Grouse and Woodcock this fall.

There was an ammunition company called New Era from Michigan and Brian (the owner) made up some 16ga 2 inch paper shells and I have about 50 that I've been saving for some odd reason.

Short shells are still long on fun

I tried the ones from Aguila. Several squib loads. Left wad in the barrels.

The partial box of Aguila mini shells I have will remain unfired. The few that I ran through an 870 stuck in the chamber. I believe my particular box to produce higher pressures than I'd fire in a modern firearm. Pounding the empties out with a rod isn't any fun either.

Now that I've been reminded that I have them, I may go after them with a razor knife.

As mentioned early on I experienced low recoil and zero issues. Possibly they make a high pressure load, but the ones I have fired worked perfectly in two different SXS.

My experience with "table fare" is that the shot and primers get stuck in my teeth.
