Back in my early 20s I met a guy who was the night watchman at an Airstream dealership down the road from our house.
He was an old gun guy, and we spent many hours listening to him tell tales of the old west, and his days with the Texas Rangers.
How much was true or just old man stories I didn't know.
One day, as the inevitable would have it, the old man passed away.
Some weeks later, the local newspaper did a 3 page spread on the man, and his days with the Texas Rangers.
Prior to meeting him, I had never spoken to anyone who actually carried a Colt SAA in .38/40. Now I had actually known, and listen to an account of someone killing an outlaw with one.
I wish I could go back and relive that time, and pay closer attention to the stories.

My father and several uncles served in WWII. One uncle never made it home; Isaac Warren Woods is buried in the Philippines.
