There are example in the serialization book of both generic entries with an "S" or "ST" and also entries that specify Grade like "SC" and "SB". Remington trap guns are denoted by S4, S5, and SB, SC. Maybe it was just different people using different methods.

I think - but could well be wrong (I have a lot of practice at that..?? ) - that most were C grades and others showed S4-S5-S6-etc..? BUT, I'm not sure all the SBT grades were always recorded in the records..?

That's my story - and I'm sticking to it..

Thanks Patrick. Yesterday Dave Suponski and I were looking over a few SBT serial numbers in the ID & Ser book that Dave has etched in his memory and none showed the grade.

Default SBT Serialization

Most of the single barrel trap guns between SN 173803 and 193409 are denoted by S. Some of those 180000 to 193409 are designated SC, SD,.... S4, S5, etc. Any explanation of this would be pure speculation.

Best, Austin
