Dorothy and I are planning to go to Addieville soon. We shot at Scarborough F&G about a month ago. I'd like her to see (experience) Bill's shop but she wants to see Robin as well. The two of them struck it up well when we were at Morris' place back in June.

I took my Parker Repro 28 with 28” barrels and DT out to SD last week…took a sharpy and a chicken on my walk I made last Friday, then finished my 3 bird pheasant limit on Monday by 10:31 am, hunting some small cattail sloughs. I was shooting 1 oz of #5 lead for pheasants, and 15/16 oz of lead #6’s for the prairie birds on Friday. My gun was super tight when I acquired it 4-5 years ago, so I had Mr. Eyster open it up in 2022…I sat in his shop while he worked on it…very cool experience! It’s currently around .014/.024….I forgot, I used it extensively in ND as well last month hunting sharpy’s and huns…love it, love it, love it! I waited til week 2 to break it out there, due to the chokes. Despite being fairly tight, I’ve shot it really well (for me!). The 3 pheasants in 31 minutes was really fun, especially since all the action occurred in a 6-7 minute span….will never forget that. Me and my 9 year old lab…pretty lonely, remote spot….all to ourselves…🍻👍😄

Been here in SD for a week, broke out my
Repro 28 gauge for the first time today…solo, can do what I want…hit some small covers, had 2 flushes I took shots at, 2 roosters down and in the vest. The 1 oz of #5 lead loads have worked great. First bird was taken by my 2nd shot, the full tube, the 2nd bird fell to the first shot, my modified tube. Dog on it right away, and in the vest pretty quickly. 5/5 thus far on birds hit with this gun…there was a miss on first walk with this gun about 12 days ago. Love it! Really enjoying hunting with it for roosters, primarily when out solo, hunting small covers. A true joy! |

Wow, talk about being hijacked. Just wanted to add that the VHE sports 30" tubes and is choked IM/F and just loves 3/4oz of 7 1/2's. I know I will be flamed for using 7 1/2's but they work. Period! 5's and 6's just don't have the pattern density and they destroy too much meat. YMMV.

30" VHE Straight Grip
I will say that this little 30" straight grip with a single trigger and no safety is a delight to carry. But, I will also say you'd better be dead on with the shot because it is tightly choked.
