I've always wondered when hunting with a double hammer gun, how do you carry it? Do you keep the hammers cocked and just leave the gun open and close it before you shoot, or just try to cock both barrels on the flush like you do with a single shot? This wouldn't be much of an issue either way hunting over a good dog, but a surprise flush could be tricky.

I hunt with gun closed and hammers down I can cock both hammers with no problem even in a surprise situation...charlie

I hunt with pointing dogs and cock the hammers only after a point.
