I agree Bill. They usually have an algorithm that, as long as you have the highest bid, they just keeps advancing it at set increment, which they give you, above anyone who outbids you. They used to show all the bids, but I think that was inviting too many proxy bidders. Now you don't know how high to bid to beat the top bidder. I've had nothing but good luck with their process. I've overpaid a tad for a few items but they were things that I just had to have, regardless of price.

But don't they still use the "15 minute rule"?

No 15 min rule for ebay.
There is a program you can subscribe to which will place your highest bid in the last second of the auction called "snipe" I believe. Bob Jurewicz |

The one I use (with great success) is Bidnapper. You tell Bidnapper your max offer, and it automatically enters whatever is necessary to win the auction at the last possible moment.
Works almost every time, as long as the max auction price doesn't exceed the max bid you gave. Dave

And what is the "15 minute rule" that you all referred to for GB?

Hi Dave. To avoid “ sniping” GB has a 15 minute rule. In the last 15 minutes of an auction, if a bid is placed, then the time remaining reverts to 15 minutes and will do so until the final bid is not challenged. It can prolong an auction until someone gives up.
