The September issue of the NRA's American Hunter has an article entitled
"Where's the Ammo" they discount the DHS issue and lay the shortages and prices on increased demands due in part to increased gun sales, and an increase in outlets (ranges and stores) and largely on speculators and hoarders. the high sales caused increases in commodity prices which has increased production costs. the article ends with comments that there are signs of increased supplies beginning to trickle into some areas of the market.

The rifle range at my club has fallen near silent. Nobody is shooting much. Every retail outlet I know imposes a limit on the purchase of ammo and powder which keeps people from hoarding. The retailers can't get the products from the distributors, the hoarders and speculators are not buying from the distributors. Something else is going on in this country. |

Hi All,
I'm new around here but I've been having good luck, over the last few months, finding supplies at Recob's. They seem to get stuff in fairly frequently. Of course it doesn't last long but, if you can get it into your shopping cart and don't mind paying shipping and haz-mat fees, you'll get it in a couple weeks. I have no connection with them - just a satisfied customer. Bruce 1928 SC SBT |

Charlie, do you get down to Jackson? If so I've got some PB and Green Dot you can have. Might also scare up some shot and primers. Let me know.

I stopped at the Kittery Trading Post today and the situation with reloading supplies remains mixed, lot to no availability and when something is available like lead shot, high prices $54.99 plus tax. There were no reloading powders available except STEEL, a situation which has persisted for at least a year now. Pistol and Rifle ammo is available, notable .223 which was not to be had a year ago. What struck me the most was this is the first time anywhere I have found 22 rimfire ammo available in over a year. 500 round boxes of Aquila brand, subsonic, standard and high velocity 22 LR. No limit per customer the sign said, price per brick, $67.99 plus tax.

Pete, The componant situation here in CT isn't much better. I can get lead and primers but no powder. Wads I always mail order and luckily that has been okay. A couple weeks ago a buddy of mine and myself found a small gunshop over in NY that had a good supply of powder so we went and bought 20 lbs. of various brands.
