Keep in mind that 2 frame guns which will be most common can be heavy. A nice 1 or 1-1/2 frame will be a lot nicer for hunting and for carrying.

As Brian stated, a 1 or 1 1/2 frame Parker would be easier to carry.
I would suggest a lower grade initially, like a VH or VHE with 28" barrels. Try to find one with 2 3/4" chambers unless you have the ability to load 2 1/2" shells. The later Parkers with fluid steel barrels and 2 3/4" chambers are out there but are a bit harder to find. I have a few 12 ga. Parkers on the 2 frame chambered for 2 1/2" ammo but I shoot standard 2 3/4" ammo all the time as the chambers are stout enough.... BUT I'M NOT RECOMMENDING ANYONE ELSE DO THIS. .

Welcome. To get an idea of what a variety you will find in Parkers, I'd suggest going to Gunsinternational.com
Many of our members, who are also dealers in quality guns, list their inventory there. |

The best prices and most honestly described Parkers and others for that matter will be available on this site for members to buy. Be patient, or you have described what you want and with luck a member may offer one that he is selling to upgrade to another gun. Don't rush, and don't buy a pig in a poke from a dishonest and overpriced dealer out there, without getting help to avoid that.

If you really want to ease into the water, you can likely find a Trojan 12 ga at a very modest price.
