There were undoubtably quite a few guns in inventory and in various stages of completion when at the A.H. Fox Gun Co. when Savage took over. Some got Savage markings or partial Savage markings and others didn't.

I've written many times of the nearly worthlessness of the published serial number chronology originally put out by Lightner Library back in the 1970s and now several placesw on the internet.

Default 16s are bird killers

We’re going to find out in the next two weeks. The first week in Montana for sharp tails and pheasants and the second week in South Dakota for Huns, sharp tails, pheasants and from what I’m reading, possibly prairie chickens.
