Default Purple PC wads

Would anyone know what the wad replacement is for the discontinued Purple PC Wads? I am looking at a low pressure 1 oz load using Winchester AA Hulls, and Winchester Super HCP which is somehow available now. But it calls for Purple PC wads which are not made anymore. I cannot find the answer to this on the web so far, thanks, Steve

I believe I used the PC Purple wad for years in light loads, like 1 ounce or 7/8 ounce. I would suggest the Federal SO wad as a replacement, although it may be a bit bulky for 1 ounce loads. I would also suggest you discard an old reloading manual that includes such discontinued components.

Thanks Bill. I read this in the Winchester reloading data website.

You didn't list what primer you are using. If you go to the Hodgdon Reloading Data Center there are a ton of loads for Win Super Handicap. If you use a Cheddite primer there is a recipe showing the Win WAASL wad at 1180 fps and 7400 psi with 1 ounce. Same speed and psi with Win 209 primer. There is lot of data that is easy to find and lots of options with that powder.
