Gosh, sponge mushrooms. I haven't found or eaten any of them since I was a kid many years ago.
I just might have to go for a walk in our woods and look for some. Dean, where is the best place to find them? Wish me luck. Bill |

Nothing like a skillet full of breaded Morrells to make my heart sing. No matter what you pair them with they are an epicurean delight.
We are int he South so frying breaded Morrells in a bit of bacon fat is the way to go.

Bill, oddly I found them in an arid area about the size of a large room in full sunlight in a Christmas tree field. I always thought they preferred shady damp areas.
